In Korean, the doll in Squid Game recites 무궁화 꽃이 피었습니다 (mu-gung-hwa kko-chi pi-oet-sum-ni-da). Mugunghwa means Hibiscus, and it is Korea’s national flower. The sentence in English translates to “Mugughwa flower bloomed”. Who would have thought the deadly doll would say such a beautiful line?

The game that featured the gigantic doll in the series is called Red Light, Green Light. All the 456 players gather on a field where the tall doll stands. When the doll turns back and recites the line, each player has to move towards the finishing line. However, no one shall move even their fingers when the doll looks at them. The doll is basically a sensor that can scan even mild movements and get the players killed by the masked soldiers.
